Jerseys

New jerseys (one jersey and one set of socks) are included in the registration cost for 8U, but otherwise are not included in the registration cost. All players in 10U and older will need a set of home/away game jerseys. Players are welcome to use their jerseys from past seasons; however, if your player needs a new/bigger set of jerseys and/or socks, they can be purchased through the coaching staff or board members at the Open House or at the first practice of the season. They can also be purchased as part of registration process.

Season Expectations

Welcome to the 2025-2026 season of the Tucson Junior Roadrunners hockey program!

Our House program runs on a target of 40-50 ice touches between practices (for all), cross-ice scrimmages (for 8U), and games (for 10U and up). The plan for games this year is to have one league of 10U and some (mostly younger) 12U players, and one league of (mostly older) 12U players and 14U players, playing by 12U rules (no body checking). All plans are based on projections of retention of players from last season and contingent on the number of actual registrations we get at each age group. I hope to have at least three teams in each league.

Some things that we plan to be the same from last year:

8U House and 10U House will be in large group practices in our first session each evening Monday through Thursday (M/W for 8U and Tu/Th for 10U).

8U House scrimmages will be primarily Sunday mornings and the 10U/12U/14U/HSD house league games will be primarily Sunday afternoon/evenings.

Learn to Skate will be primarily Sunday mornings.

Some times may vary from expectation depending on our ice limitations on a given day/week.

Some things that we plan to be different from last year:

12U House will have its own practice times separate from travel teams.

14U House/HS Development will have its own practice times separate from travel teams.

Practices (both house and travel) will be shortened to 55 minutes to increase the number of ice slots available to us at a reasonable hour.

House teams will be made up primarily of house players instead of an integrated group of house and travel players. A limited number of travel rostered players may be invited to ensure we can field enough teams, if necessary.

Goalie sessions will share ice with 12U House and 14U House/HS Development instead of sharing ice with 8U. This will increase the ice space available for 8U practices.

Many of the things that are different increase costs across the board. With fewer kids on each ice session in the older groups, the cost per player for each session increases. The older players especially will benefit from having more space on the ice.
