LEARN TO SKATE PROGRAM
The Learn to Skate program operates typically once per week when the ice is available at the TCC. This is a recreational learn to skate program intended to get kids comfortable on the ice with some basic skating skills to get them ready to move on to hockey or figure skating. The cost for Learn to Skate is $200. This is different from the Shott's Tots Learn to Play program, which will have their own registration at https://www.azhockeylegacy.org/shottstots.
Ages
Learn to Skate is open to skaters aged under 18 years. The ideal age range is 3-8, most participants are in this age range.
When
This program usually runs from mid-September through March.
Where
Learn to Skate sessions are held at the arena at the Tucson Convention Center.
Practices
Sessions are usually once per week on Sundays when the ice is available at the TCC.
Extra Costs
Required equipment for Learn to Skate are ice skates and a helmet. Other protective equipment may be worn if desired. Used skates and helmets are available for purchase; sizes available may be limited.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a hockey program?
No. This is just for learning to skate. Hockey Program options are the Junior Roadrunners House hockey program, the Shott's Tots Learn to Play program.
Do you need to complete Learn to Skate to participate in Learn to Play (Shott's Tots)?
No. It can be helpful for a skater to spend a year in Learn to Skate prior to engaging in Shott's Tots Learn to Play, but it is not required.
